Finance Process Improvement Specialist

About the role

Join Aurecon’s Finance Transformation team as a Finance Process Improvement Specialist on a contract basis. You will dive deep into finance processes, uncover inefficiencies and risks, and design evidence‑based improvements that enhance user experience and leverage technology.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops and one‑on‑one sessions with a broad range of stakeholders to capture and analyse finance processes and procedures.
• Identify pain points, inefficiencies, control gaps and areas of financial risk, supported by clear evidence and data.
• Map current‑state and future‑state processes to produce practical, implementable recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and AI augmentation, ensuring solutions are fit‑for‑purpose.
• Develop a prioritised set of process improvement initiatives that deliver tangible value across finance services.
• Build shared understanding and obtain stakeholder buy‑in by clearly articulating benefits, trade‑offs and recommended sequencing.
• Partner with stakeholders to support delivery and embedding of agreed improvements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in process improvement, business analysis or transformation roles, preferably within finance or shared services.
• Strong capability in process mapping, documentation and optimisation (current and future state).
• Experience working with ERP systems; Workday Financials is highly regarded.
• Proven ability to analyse complex processes and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Excellent facilitation, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• High attention to detail with strong documentation discipline.
• Experience with finance processes, controls and reporting.
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
