Venue Officer (Casual)

About the role

The State Library of Queensland is looking for casual Venue Officers to support the delivery of events across its multiple venues. You will be the front‑line representative, creating a welcoming environment and ensuring each event runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and pack down meeting‑room furniture, basic audio‑visual equipment, stationery and food/beverage stations.
• Coordinate event staff, including contractors, venue technicians and security suppliers.
• Maintain venue cleanliness, conduct end‑of‑event inspections and report incidents.
• Act as the primary client liaison on event days, greeting external managers, artists and promoters.
• Collaborate with Facilities and Technical Production teams to resolve on‑site issues.

Required profile

• Professional demeanor with the ability to work independently as the sole library representative.
• Strong organisational, attention‑to‑detail and communication skills.
• Previous supervisory experience in symposium, conference, banquet or similar event environments.

Required skills

• Basic audio‑visual systems operation.
