State Manager – Steel Erection (Victoria)

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the State Manager will lead the Engineering Division across Victoria, partnering with Tier 1 builders on major infrastructure and construction projects. This senior position owns the delivery of steel erection and installation programmes throughout the state.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of 30–35 engineers and graduate engineers.
• Provide direction to Project Managers and Project/Site Engineers, both direct and indirect reports.
• Coordinate with workshop and fabrication teams to align on‑site delivery with production schedules.
• Oversee projects to ensure safety, quality, cost and programme targets are achieved.
• Manage division budgets, forecasting and overall performance.
• Support tender preparation, client relationship management and business development activities.

Required profile

• Strong background in steel installation, fabrication and site erection on industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Relevant engineering degree.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering, construction or infrastructure.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Solid commercial acumen with experience in P&L, forecasting and cost control.
