Senior Project Officer – Parks and Wildlife

About the role

The Senior Project Officer will join the South East Queensland team of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to lead planning and on‑ground projects that integrate newly acquired lands into the public estate. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality park planning, visitor management and conservation outcomes for the Greater Brisbane area.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement park planning strategies for newly acquired properties.
• Coordinate on‑ground projects addressing visitor use, asset protection, pest control and fire management.
• Manage contracts and oversee contractors to achieve project milestones.
• Engage with internal technical staff, operational teams and external stakeholders, including First Nations groups.
• Prepare project briefs, reports and high‑quality written documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in park or recreation precinct planning and site assessment.
• Strong track record of delivering projects in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and meeting facilitation.
• Commitment to integrating First Nations rights and interests in park management.
