Senior Platform Engineer – OpenShift

About the role
Leidos Australia is seeking an experienced OpenShift Platform Engineer to design, deliver and evolve a secure, scalable container platform that enables development teams to build, deploy and operate critical applications with confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain Red Hat OpenShift services across complex enterprise environments, ensuring reliability, security and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, cloud, security and infrastructure teams to streamline deployment pipelines, improve platform adoption and enhance the developer experience.
- Automate platform provisioning, configuration, monitoring and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code and modern engineering practices.
- Contribute to platform strategy, continuous improvement initiatives and operational support while promoting best practices for virtualization, containerisation, observability, resilience and cloud‑native delivery.
Required profile
- Passionate about modern platform engineering and creating reliable, secure environments for fast value delivery.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Australian citizen with an active NV2 security clearance.
Required skills
- Design, deployment and support of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms, including Advanced Cluster Management.
- OpenShift networking (OVN‑K), ingress, traffic management and load balancing.
- OpenShift storage configuration – OpenShift Data Foundation, CSI, PV, enterprise storage arrays.
- Linux system administration, container technologies and cloud‑native architecture principles.
- Automation/IaC using Ansible, Terraform, GitOps or similar tools.
- CI/CD integration with GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or comparable solutions.
- Platform security, monitoring, logging, backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) and service mesh, observability, DevSecOps.
- Knowledge of server hardware (Dell, HPE, Cisco) and storage technologies (NetApp, EMC).
- Familiarity with hypervisors such as VMware and Hyper‑V.
