Senior Litigation Lawyer – Sydney (Hybrid)

About the role

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) Legal team is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join its Litigation function. The role can be based in Sydney CBD (Haymarket) or Parramatta and offers flexible hybrid working. You will support prosecutions, administrative reviews and other regulatory litigation for agencies such as SafeWork NSW, NSW Fair Trading and the Building Commission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, concise legal advice and representation across prosecutions, administrative reviews and court proceedings.
• Undertake litigation matters, brief counsel and manage case files to achieve effective outcomes.
• Analyse legislation and evidence, draft pleadings, statements of fact, submissions and other legal documents.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and external counsel on breaches of legislation and tribunal matters.
• Develop guidance and training material to promote compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience as a litigator.
• Admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and a current practising certificate.
• Strong communication skills, client‑focused attitude and ability to manage competing priorities.
