Senior Lawyer - Data & Privacy

About the role

ANZ is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer specializing in privacy and data protection to join its Privacy & Data Legal team. You will help shape the bank’s enterprise‑wide privacy, data governance and emerging‑technology agenda across Australia and its global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on privacy, data protection and data‑driven technologies.
• Advise on privacy and data risks arising from technology initiatives, digital transformation, outsourcing arrangements and cloud services.
• Support the management of privacy‑related regulatory inquiries, audits and investigations.
• Advise on privacy and data incidents, including breaches, unauthorised access or disclosure, and guide notification and remediation.
• Assist with enterprise data governance, privacy risk management and DPIAs/PIAs, including programmes responding to privacy and AI‑related regulatory reforms.
• Draft, review and negotiate privacy, data protection and information security provisions in commercial and supplier agreements.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Technology, Data, Risk, Security, Compliance and the business, and contribute to capability uplift within the legal team.

Required profile

• Experienced Senior Lawyer with a focus on privacy and data protection.
• Proven ability to partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Comfort operating at the forefront of regulatory change and emerging technologies.
