Senior Insolvency Accountant

About the role

PKF is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Restructuring, Turnaround & Insolvency team in Newcastle. You will work directly with distressed businesses, helping owners navigate insolvency, minimise loss and, where possible, revive operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage corporate and personal insolvency cases from start to finish.
• Prepare and review financial statements, cash‑flow forecasts and restructuring plans.
• Liaise with clients, creditors, courts and other stakeholders during the insolvency process.
• Provide clear written and verbal reports to senior partners and clients.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience in insolvency, restructuring or bankruptcy environments.
• Currently undertaking or completed CA/CPA and ARITA qualifications.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Resilience and empathy when dealing with clients in highly emotive situations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
