Remote Internal Auditor – $60‑$85/hr Contract

About the role

Mercor is seeking a seasoned audit professional to join its remote team on a contract basis. You will design and execute long‑horizon audit tasks that assess AI agent performance against verifiable ground truth, ensuring rigorous risk assessment and control testing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop deterministic rubrics and long‑horizon audit scenarios to evaluate agent outputs.
• Create risk‑assessment plans with documented ratings and map audit programs to specific assertions.
• Design and run control‑testing execution tasks using known populations and ground‑truth response sets.
• Conduct wrap‑up activities, including workpaper reviews, defect identification, and deficiency memos.
• Work independently and asynchronously, delivering high‑focus audit deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in external audit (Big 4 or national firm) or internal audit at a public company.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to encode reasoning into deterministic rubrics.
• CPA credential preferred or CPA candidate.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SOX ITGCs, substantive analytics, and sampling methodology.
• Experience with audit cycles such as revenue or inventory.
• Proficiency in audit software: Aura, Clara, Canvas, TeamMate, AuditBoard.
