Registered Nurse – Scrub/Scout (Perioperative)

About the role

The Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse works within the peri‑operative department of Hornsby Ku‑Ring‑Gai Hospital, providing high‑quality, safe patient care across a range of surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and ensure a sterile operating environment.
• Set up operating rooms, verify and maintain sterility of instruments and equipment.
• Ensure required instruments and supplies are available for each case.
• Assist the surgical team throughout procedures.
• Complete surgical documentation accurately.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Maintain accurate inventory of surgical supplies.
• Coordinate patient flow between pre‑operative and post‑operative areas.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse – Division 1, registration with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Current clinical knowledge and problem‑solving ability.
• Commitment to excellence in nursing practice and ongoing professional development.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of professional, ethical and legal requirements for registered nurses.
• Demonstrated ability to follow infection control protocols.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster including weekends and on‑call duties.
