Project Engineer – Utilities (6‑month contract)

About the role

As a Project Engineer – Utilities you will own the utility relocations across the Central‑West Orana project, including undergrounding Essential Energy 22kV lines and relocating Telstra cables. This is a six‑month contract with a clear, self‑contained scope of work and direct visibility of your delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Engage subcontractors and hold them to scope, program, quality and safety expectations on site.
• Coordinate with Essential Energy, Telstra and other asset owners on approvals, technical standards, outages and access.
• Review relocation designs for constructability and resolve issues with designers and asset owners before work starts.
• Sequence relocation works around the wider construction program to ensure site access when needed.
• Track progress, cost and schedule, preparing status reports and forecasts for the project team.
• Prepare Inspection Test Plans and checklists, ensuring non‑conformances are recorded and closed promptly.
• Manage permits, approvals and landowner interfaces tied to the relocation works.

Required profile

• Proven experience in utility relocation projects, including undergrounding 22kV lines and cable relocation.
• Ability to engage and manage subcontractors to meet scope, schedule, quality and safety standards.
• Strong coordination skills with asset owners such as Essential Energy and Telstra.
• Capability to track project progress, cost and schedule and produce clear status reports.
• Experience preparing inspection test plans and handling non‑conformances.
