Project Director & Program Manager (Railway) – Sydney

About the role

This senior position combines the responsibilities of a Project Director and a Program Manager for a NSW Government client operating within the railway sector. The role is hybrid, based in Sydney, and initially runs for six months with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams delivering a portfolio of strategic railway projects.
• Drive project delivery, resolve challenges, and manage stakeholder expectations across TfNSW and Sydney Trains.
• Provide expert advice on budget, resource management, risk mitigation and governance.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, schedules, resource plans and regular performance reports.
• Conduct risk analysis for the Safe Access for Maintenance Program and ensure compliance with program governance frameworks.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams in strategic project environments.
• Extensive background in railway or transport project delivery.
• Proven ability to manage risk, budgets and project governance at senior level.
• Strong executive‑level stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
