Project Cost Controller

About the role

The Project Cost Controller reports to the Head of Corporate Finance and is responsible for the financial management, monitoring and control of project costs across the Capricorn Group. The role ensures that project budgets and actual expenditures are accurately established, captured, tracked and reported throughout the project and procurement lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strong financial governance and cost discipline for all projects.
• Deliver timely, accurate cost reporting and identify cost variances.
• Provide high‑quality financial analysis and insights to support decision‑making.
• Support cost planning, forecasting, accruals and reconciliations in partnership with business stakeholders.
• Liaise with external suppliers and service providers to ensure accurate cost capture and robust record‑keeping.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project financial performance and cost visibility.

Required profile

• Advanced MS Office capability, especially strong Excel skills.
• Experience with purchase order systems, either standalone or integrated with an ERP.
• Strong analytical ability with high attention to detail and organisation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proven experience in a similar role within procurement, cost management or business services.
