Product Design Engineer – Brisbane

About the role

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our Brisbane team, developing innovative products for tightly regulated environments. You will work closely with quality, hardware and software groups, contributing across the full product development lifecycle from concept to manufacture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical research and interpret standards and regulatory requirements.
• Translate clinical needs and user insights into design inputs and engineering requirements.
• Develop mechanical solutions for miniaturised, flexible or steerable systems.
• Create and iterate detailed 3D CAD models from concept through to production‑ready definitions.
• Design, build and test prototypes, performing verification and validation activities.
• Drive design for manufacturability and collaborate with suppliers to optimise tooling and production processes.
• Liaise with cross‑functional teams, clients and clinical stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
• Produce complete production‑ready documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications and technical files.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented designer/engineer with a passion for both form and function.
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Proactive mindset with ownership and accountability for design outcomes.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working visa.

Required skills

• 5+ years of product design or mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for complex assemblies with tight tolerances.
• Experience in prototype development, verification testing and validation.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability and supplier collaboration.
• Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
