Power Systems Engineer - Team Leader

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a senior Power Systems Engineer to lead its Queensland Energy team. You will guide a multidisciplinary group in delivering renewable generation, storage and hybrid projects, ensuring they connect safely and efficiently to the National Electricity Market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and empower a high‑performing team of specialists focused on renewable generation and storage connections.
• Provide trusted grid advisory services, covering connection strategy, generator performance standards, system strength and registration.
• Oversee power system modelling using industry‑standard tools (PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, OEM models) while coaching the team.
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, digital, advisory and environmental disciplines to co‑create integrated solutions.
• Champion quality, continuous improvement and capability uplift in modelling approaches.
• Mentor team members, promote inclusive practices and support business development.
• Recruit and develop talent to build a high‑performing power systems capability.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in power systems, grid connection or related consulting, utility, developer or operations roles.
• Strong leadership style that values collaboration, diverse perspectives and inclusive team culture.
• Electrical engineering qualification with RPEQ registration (or willingness to obtain).
