Permanent Midwife - Seaside Location

About the role

A recruitment agency is assisting a well-established maternity unit in Melbourne's inner west, about 10 km from the CBD, to find a permanent midwife. The facility is known for its maritime history, heritage buildings and city skyline views, and offers emergency, surgical, renal dialysis and community services. The position suits experienced midwives and is based in a seaside suburb.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clinical, non-clinical and social needs, identify at-risk women and babies, document findings in the consumer's health record and care plan, and implement risk minimisation strategies
• Take accountability for all care delivered, working within scope and in line with organisational policies and professional standards
• Recognise changes in a consumer's condition and act, report and escalate as needed
• Develop discharge plans that meet the needs of women, babies, families and their significant others, and understand the role of community providers
• Role model best practice and refer to the latest research
• Perform other midwifery duties as required

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration
• Experience as a registered midwife
• Effective organisational skills, especially time management, delegation and supervision
• Highly developed interpersonal skills
• Police and criminal history check; working with children check if requested
• Immunisation health clearance before employment
• Sponsorship applications accepted for international applicants
