Other Cook - Broome Camp School

About the role

Broome Camp School, located on Cable Beach with tropical gardens and educational opportunities for students, is looking for an Other Cook. This is a permanent full-time position starting as soon as possible. The cook assists the Qualified Cook in catering for camp school activities and clients, while maintaining quality control, storage and hygiene in line with occupational safety and health standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with menu planning, food preparation, cooking, stock control and ordering goods
• Maintain quality control, storage and hygiene
• Help clean the kitchen, utensils and equipment and dispose of waste in the right places
• Keep pantries, freezers, cool rooms and storerooms organised and clean
• Report equipment and facility faults promptly
• Supervise Kitchen Hands

Required profile

• Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or holder of a valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment
• Consent to a nationally coordinated criminal history check and a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit
• Current Working with Children Check

Required skills

• Experience in a commercial cooking environment and ability to help prepare meals for large groups
• Organisational skills, including menu planning and quantity calculations
• Ability to read Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions and safety instructions
• Interpersonal and communication skills, including supervising staff and working in a team
