Ocean Freight Finance Controller

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking an Ocean Freight Finance Controller to join its Finance team. Based in Melbourne with flexibility for candidates across Australia, you will act as a commercial finance business partner, providing insights that drive performance and strategic decisions for ocean freight products and stations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver financial reporting, budgeting and analysis for ocean freight operations.
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
• Partner with operations to improve profitability and minimise revenue leakage.
• Conduct variance and root‑cause analysis to enhance performance.
• Drive process improvements, automation and efficiency initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Experience in commercial finance or business partnering, preferably within logistics, shipping or related sectors.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and present findings.
• Proactive attitude towards identifying and solving financial performance issues.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
