Nipper - FIFO Underground Support (Granny Smith)

About the role

Gold Fields is hiring a Nipper for its Granny Smith gold mine in Western Australia, working on a FIFO roster of 8/6 days and 7/7 nights. As a Nipper you play a vital underground support role alongside production and development crews, keeping operations running smoothly and safely. Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, this is a physically demanding, fast-paced role that offers a solid foundation and a genuine pathway to underground operator positions. Previous underground mining experience as a Nipper or truck driver is required.

Key responsibilities

• Support underground crews through equipment delivery, waste removal, ground support and general assistance
• Off-side Jumbo operators with ground support tasks such as bolting, meshing, heading setup and service crew activities, as required
• Complete pre-starts, identify and report hazards and maintain excellent housekeeping
• Stay fit for work on every rostered day and contribute to a strong safety culture

Required profile

• Previous underground mining experience as a Nipper or Truck Driver
• Physically fit and experienced in physically challenging environments
• Strong safety focus and compliance mindset
• Commitment to teamwork, accountability and strong communication skills
• Current manual driver's licence
• Able to provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance
