About the role

This position provides second‑line oversight of non‑financial and operational risks across ANZ's Retail Australia value‑chain, focusing on the product and pricing portfolio. The manager supports independent review, challenge and advice on risk identification, risk assessments, and control design, delivering insight to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Support second‑line oversight for designated Retail value‑chain risk matters.
• Review and challenge material risks, risk assessments and control design across end‑to‑end processes, systems and data.
• Provide clear risk opinions on framework application, control effectiveness and first‑line risk management quality.
• Prioritise activities using a risk‑based approach, focusing on the most material risks and control weaknesses.
• Identify, assess and escalate material control gaps or inefficiencies.
• Evaluate root‑cause analyses and ensure remediation addresses underlying drivers.
• Monitor remediation progress, escalating where delivery is at risk.
• Prepare and review committee papers and risk reports, ensuring clear, evidence‑based messaging.
• Support risk acceptance and governance processes, applying delegated authorities appropriately.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the Retail banking environment.
• Proven ability to apply practical risk judgement across business and enabling functions.
• Experience in independent risk oversight and challenge.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for senior stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with business partners.
