Manager Operational Risk (Models)

About the role

The Manager, Operational Risk (Model Risk) will strengthen ANZ’s first‑line management of model risks. Working within the Operational & Resilience Risk Centre of Expertise, you will partner with business, technology and analytics teams to ensure models, algorithms, AI and bots are safely designed, used and governed.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate model risk assessments across the organisation.
• Provide specialist advice on model design, validation, governance and safe usage.
• Partner with business and control owners to ensure models remain fit‑for‑purpose as contexts change.
• Support controls testing teams in validating model effectiveness and control design.
• Assist regulatory and policy change initiatives through impact assessments and implementation activities.
• Review and improve control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps and recommending enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational risk and model risk management.
• Strong understanding of model governance, validation processes and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with business, technology and analytics stakeholders.
• Experience delivering impact assessments for policy and regulatory changes.
