Legal Counsel – In‑House Commercial Lawyer

About the role

KPMG Australia’s Office of General Counsel is seeking an in‑house Legal Counsel to join a collaborative team focused on technology‑driven commercial agreements. You will work closely with senior executives, including the General Counsel, to provide legal guidance across KPMG’s evolving service offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on KPMG’s rapidly growing technology solutions and services.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements such as master services agreements, procurement, implementation, licensing, SaaS, managed services and outsourcing contracts.
• Support the structuring of responses to tenders for service provision.
• Collaborate with client engagement teams and internal Risk Management, Privacy and IT Security groups.

Required profile

• Current Australian practising certificate.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm or equivalent in‑house role (exceptionally strong candidates with less experience may be considered).
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels.
• Project management, research, analysis and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work independently while managing competing priorities.
