Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Physical Geography

About the role

The University of Queensland’s School of the Environment is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography. This full‑time permanent position is based at the St Lucia campus and combines high‑quality teaching with an independent research programme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate, honours and postgraduate courses, including fieldwork components and innovative curriculum design.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, acting as Principal Supervisor at senior level.
• Develop and maintain an independent research agenda, publish in leading journals and secure external funding.
• Contribute to school governance, partnership development, mentorship and service activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Physical Geography or a closely related discipline.
• Research record addressing interdisciplinary questions in physical geography, with interest in climate, natural hazards, coastal processes, geomorphology, catchment management or sustainable development.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence and, for senior level, national or international recognition.
