Housing Officer

About the role

Vinnies Housing, part of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, is recruiting a Housing Officer for its South Brisbane office. The role sits within a supportive, state-wide team delivering compassionate housing services to people in need, managing a small, focused portfolio that lets you connect closely with tenants and help sustain long-term housing outcomes. It is a permanent, full-time position of 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Build respectful, supportive relationships with tenants to help them sustain their housing
• Deliver day-to-day tenancy and property management services
• Collaborate with internal teams and local service providers
• Ensure tenancy and property compliance in line with relevant policies and legislation
• Connect tenants with appropriate support services to meet their individual needs
• Conduct tenant visits as required to provide ongoing tenancy and client support

Required profile

• Experience in community or social housing is preferred but not required; transferable skills and a willingness to learn are welcomed
• A genuine passion for helping people and building stronger communities
• Life experience, emotional intelligence and the ability to work respectfully with diverse individuals
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Commitment to learning, teamwork and continuous improvement
• Alignment with the mission and values of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland
• An appropriate visa to work in Australia/New Zealand

Required skills

• Confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Valid Blue Card required for roles involving direct work with children or adults at risk, verified before commencement
• Background screening including police check and reference checks; some positions may also require a pre-employment medical check
