Hospital Pharmacist-in-Charge (Full-time, Permanent)

About the role

Slade Pharmacy, part of the Icon Group, is seeking a motivated pharmacist to lead its pharmacy team at Forster Private Hospital. This permanent, full‑time position offers the chance to take ownership of pharmacy operations while working closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team, including oncology services.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure pharmacy operations comply with legal, safety and accreditation standards.
• Oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of all medications.
• Collaborate with medical and nursing teams to optimise patient medication therapy.
• Work with the oncology department to clinically verify, prepare, order and supply chemotherapy treatments.
• Manage, mentor and train pharmacy staff, enforcing policies and procedures.
• Implement safety programmes aimed at reducing medication errors.
• Control pharmacy budget, purchasing and overall financial performance.
• Develop and update pharmacy policies, acting as liaison with other hospital departments.
• Counsel patients on medication use and safety.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a pharmacist with no practice restrictions.
• Australian work rights valid for at least 12 months from the start date.
• Proven experience in leadership or management roles, preferably in a pharmacy setting.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems and deliver practical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and confidence to lead a dynamic team.
• Hospital pharmacy experience is valued but not essential; comprehensive training will be provided.
