Head of Technology Risk, Value Chains

About the role

In ANZ’s Risk, Group Technology Team, you will lead Line 2 oversight of technology and cyber risk across key business value chains, translating technical risk into clear, business‑focused insights for the Board, Executive Committee and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Set the Line 2 oversight plan and operating rhythm for technology and cyber risks, aligning activities with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
• Provide independent review and challenge of technology and cyber risk management approaches, ensuring value‑chain impacts are explicit for divisional governance.
• Maintain an independent view of material, systemic and emerging technology and cyber risks, translating themes into value‑chain risk implications.
• Oversee key technology programmes that affect value chains, forming Line 2 opinions on delivery risk, resilience and customer outcomes.
• Produce executive‑ready risk opinions and briefings that articulate trade‑offs, required actions and customer consequences.
• Develop team capability through workforce planning, coaching, performance management and building communities of practice.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in Line 2 Technology, Cyber or Operational Risk within a complex, APRA‑regulated environment.
• Deep knowledge of technology, cyber and operational resilience risk domains with ability to translate technical controls into business impacts.
• Proven track record of forming, documenting and defending Line 2 risk opinions on control effectiveness and residual risk.
• Strong understanding of banking value chains (Retail, Business, Private and Institutional) and associated processes.
• Executive communication skills with experience producing decision‑ready papers and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Extensive people‑leadership experience, including hiring, coaching and setting quality standards for risk challenge.
