General Manager Learning & Leadership Development

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a senior leader to shape and execute its enterprise-wide Learning & Leadership Development strategy. Reporting to the Head of Talent, you will operate in a matrix environment and influence senior stakeholders across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the enterprise learning and leadership development strategy aligned with Group objectives.
• Identify learning needs through engagement with senior leaders and translate them into strategic priorities.
• Govern the learning architecture, ensuring consistency, scalability and alignment with organisational goals.
• Oversee end‑to‑end learning design, delivery and quality assurance.
• Measure learning effectiveness using data and insights, driving continuous improvement.
• Lead transformation initiatives such as the Learning Full Potential program.
• Own the leadership development strategy linked to succession and talent priorities.
• Manage strategic vendor partnerships and optimise learning platforms.
• Provide executive‑level reporting and market insights while leading a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Proven global leadership experience in learning, talent or organisational development.
• Strong stakeholder management and advisory skills at senior executive level.
• Data‑driven mindset with ability to translate insights into impact.
• Experience managing large‑scale transformation and vendor relationships.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
