Gardener / Handyperson

About the role

Pullman Cairns International, a luxury hotel in Cairns, North Queensland, is seeking a skilled and reliable Gardener / Handyperson to join its Engineering team. The role combines horticultural duties with general handyman and maintenance tasks, keeping the hotel's gardens, grounds and facilities safe, functional and well presented. It is a stable, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns and landscaped areas across the hotel grounds.
• Care for plants through pruning, fertilising and general garden maintenance.
• Complete mowing, edging, weeding and seasonal garden tasks.
• Monitor plant health and report irrigation or maintenance issues.
• Maintain pathways, planters, outdoor furniture and external guest areas.
• Assist with general handyman and maintenance tasks and support preventative maintenance.
• Work with internal teams and external contractors when needed, and ensure outdoor and public areas are safe, clean and well presented.

Required profile

• Experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of plants and garden care, ideally in a tropical environment.
• Hands-on, practical approach with attention to detail and pride in presentation standards.
• Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
• Reliability, initiative and good communication skills.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.

• General handyman and property maintenance experience is highly regarded
