Financial Controller – Lead Finance Team in Sydney

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead and develop a high‑performing finance team responsible for accounting, audit, tax, controls and statutory obligations. You will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting while strengthening processes, improving systems and embedding efficiency for a fast‑growing education group.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all financial accounting, audit, tax and statutory reporting activities.
• Deliver accurate, timely and well‑governed financial statements to the Board and executive team.
• Strengthen finance processes, improve systems and drive scalability across the function.
• Lead automation initiatives, system migrations and process‑improvement projects.
• Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a strong learning culture.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified senior finance leader with 8+ years of experience.
• At least 2 years in a financial control leadership role.
• Proven experience leading Australian audits and managing tax compliance.
• Background in private‑equity‑backed, multi‑site, education or tech‑enabled businesses is highly regarded.
• Experience in a Big 4 or mid‑tier chartered firm is a plus.
