Financial Controller (Brisbane)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established privately owned Australian business with operations across multiple states and New Zealand, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Brisbane head office. Reporting directly to the COO, you will lead the finance function and partner with senior leadership on strategy and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team covering accounting, accounts payable and receivable.
• Oversee month‑end close, management accounts and variance analysis for the Group.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, budget variance analysis, full‑year forecasts and commentary.
• Manage treasury activities, daily cash flows, loan compliance and support capital raising.
• Handle all statutory lodgements (BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT, ASIC) and joint‑venture reporting.
• Liaise with external accountants for annual statements and audits.
• Conduct investment appraisal and financial analysis for major projects.
• Drive process improvement and automation across finance systems and workflows.
• Partner with the senior leadership team on strategic planning and scenario analysis.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification.
• 10+ years of experience in senior finance roles, preferably within a multi‑entity environment.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of AASB standards, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Excellent financial modelling and stakeholder communication skills.
