Design Assistant – Fashion Product Development

About the role

We are seeking a creative Design Assistant to support the end‑to‑end product development process across multiple fashion categories. Working closely with our Melbourne team and overseas head office, you will help create globally relevant, trend‑led products that align with brand direction and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Support seasonal trend research across colour, fabric, silhouette and key fashion directions for the global market.
• Create CADs, technical sketches, flat drawings and design specifications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Develop commercially relevant product ranges, maintain accurate tech packs and specification sheets within the PLM system.
• Collaborate with overseas teams to source fabrics and trims, finalise specifications and costings.
• Manage sampling timelines, track critical paths and ensure product development meets launch and photoshoot deadlines.
• Review samples and fittings, updating comments to maintain fit, quality, workmanship and design intent.

Required profile

• 2+ years’ experience in fashion design or product development, preferably in fast‑fashion or online retail.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrics and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with overseas head office teams and factories, especially in Asia.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
