Custody Team Leader

About the role

The Custody Team Leader will head the Settlements team in Sydney, delivering a high‑quality Custody and Settlements service to Apex Group’s clients. You will shape a collaborative, performance‑driven culture while ensuring service level agreements are met through data‑driven management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Settlements team, fostering collaboration, high performance and employee engagement.
• Set, monitor and review individual and team KPIs through regular 1‑to‑1s and team meetings.
• Identify skill gaps, plan up‑skilling initiatives and oversee professional development.
• Allocate client funds to team members and rotate assignments to support cross‑training.
• Drive process‑efficiency projects and continuously improve client service delivery.
• Provide input to product roadmaps and support testing of new Settlements functionality.
• Ensure all client trades and corporate actions are accurately entered, processed and reconciled.
• Maintain up‑to‑date Settlements procedures in Promapp and resolve reconciliation breaks promptly.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance or a related discipline (preferred).
• Proven experience leading a financial operations or settlements team.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage SLAs using data‑driven insights.
• Excellent judgment, problem‑solving skills and ability to work across departments.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and staff development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Promapp for process documentation and management.
