Crew Leader – Civil Construction

About the role

Townsville City Council is seeking a Crew Leader for its civil construction team. The role involves directing daily crew activities across multiple sites, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule and to the required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and organise daily work schedules and allocate resources across various construction sites.
• Monitor progress, time, cost and service levels, reporting any variances and adjusting plans as needed.
• Conduct quality checks, resolve issues promptly and prevent delays.
• Ensure traffic control measures are correctly implemented and sites remain safe.
• Perform WH&S audits, safety checks and enforce compliance with safety regulations.
• Provide on‑site guidance and support to crew members, reinforcing best practices.
• Handle customer enquiries professionally to maintain smooth operations.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Civil Construction (or equivalent experience).
• Construction Industry White Card (QLD).
• Current MR class driver’s licence.
• Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation under the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
• Demonstrated leadership style that motivates and inspires teams.
• Experience leading construction personnel on municipal infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and their applications.

• Base rate of $36.55 per hour plus superannuation.
• Progression to $39.54 per hour based on performance and qualifications.
