Conference & Events Operations Manager

About the role

The Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, a 373-room resort and events destination with a convention centre capable of hosting up to 1,400 delegates, is looking for a Conference & Events Operations Manager. The resort is currently undergoing a $20 million refurbishment, including a complete transformation of event spaces. This is a fast-paced, influential role leading the day-to-day delivery of conferences, meetings and events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale events, working closely with Commercial, Food & Beverage and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the successful delivery of conferences, meetings and events while maintaining exceptional service standards.
• Lead, coach and motivate the Events Operations team to deliver outstanding experiences.
• Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate events from planning through to execution.
• Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders throughout the event lifecycle.
• Manage rostering, labour costs and operational efficiency to achieve business objectives.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across event operations and service delivery.
• Ensure a safe, professional and positive working environment for the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in conference and events operations within a hotel, resort or large-scale venue environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop and support a high-performing team.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple events and competing priorities.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing labour, costs and operational performance.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
