Compliance Lead – Regulatory Relations Manager

About the role

The Manager, Regulatory Relations APRA will support ANZ’s global oversight of Level 2 regulatory risk and act as the primary relationship manager for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). You will help shape the bank’s engagement strategy, improve governance practices and provide expert advice on regulatory risks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective communication and a strategic approach to APRA engagement.
• Represent ANZ professionally with APRA and other external regulators.
• Develop and implement engagement models for additional regulators in collaboration with relevant teams.
• Build collaborative relationships with business, product, risk and compliance stakeholders.
• Lead continuous improvement of governance processes supporting regulator engagement, including issue management and regulatory review preparation.
• Identify regulatory themes and trends, share insights and advise senior leadership on associated risks.
• Manage highly sensitive and confidential regulatory matters with sound judgement.
• Oversee a small team dedicated to supporting effective regulatory engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in regulatory relations, preferably within the banking sector.
• Strong understanding of APRA regulations and the broader Australian regulatory environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Track record of leading small teams and driving governance improvements.
