Casual Laboratory Technician

About the role

ALS Environmental is seeking casual Laboratory Technicians to join its Smithfield team. You will support accurate and efficient laboratory testing by performing sample analysis in line with quality standards. Two casual positions are available, with shifts varying according to business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform extraction procedures and tasks per ALS Quality Work Instructions, ensuring QA/QC compliance
• Organise daily tasks to meet set timelines and standards
• Report anomalies in results or samples to the Supervisor
• Maintain housekeeping, calibrate equipment and perform calculations for analyses
• Manage consumable stock and assist with additional duties
• Use calibrated equipment and follow ALS quality procedures
• Comply with ALS HSE policies, state OHS legislation and the safety manual, and promote a safety culture

Required profile

• Tertiary education (degree or diploma in science, preferably chemistry)
• Ability to work autonomously or in a team, and to plan and organise work
• Good communication, interpersonal and attention-to-detail skills
• Good chemical knowledge and judgement and problem-solving skills
• Positive attitude to safety requirements
• Able to stand and move around the lab and lift or carry up to 15 kg
• Appropriate aptitude on the tests allocated
• Citizen or permanent resident of the country of application, or able to obtain a valid working visa
