Casual Cleaner - Multiple Sites

About the role

Casual cleaner positions are available across several Eastern Health sites, including Maroondah Hospital, with flexible shifts that fit your lifestyle and availability. Availability in December 2026 and January 2027 is mandatory. Duties vary and include cleaning wards, clinical areas, theatres, kitchens and administrative spaces. The role reports to the Support Services Manager and is classified under the Health & Allied Services enterprise agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a microbiologically safe environment for patients and staff, and a clean, inviting environment for visitors
• Make and wash beds, replace linen, and wash bedside lockers, tables, chairs and meal trays
• Mop and vacuum floors, dust high surfaces and clean high-touch points
• Clean bathrooms, toilets, transport trolleys and chairs, and change bed screens when soiled
• Clean and re-stock the dirty utility room and store room, and defrost and clean patient and staff fridges
• Clean ward equipment such as I-med pumps, IV poles, wheelchairs and commode chairs
• Check sharps containers daily and change when full, and check and replace gloves and other consumables
• Keep ward areas tidy, segregate waste correctly and assist with disposal of contaminated and infectious waste and linen

Required profile

• Experience cleaning in a similar role is desirable
• Physically fit and able to work as part of a diverse team
• Good knowledge of and ability to demonstrate quality cleaning skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work alone and in teams, with a can-do attitude
• Up-to-date seasonal influenza vaccination is mandatory; those starting between May and December need it before an offer
