Assistant Leading Hand

About the role

The Assistant Leading Hand supports the shift Leading Hand in overseeing all activities and personnel within the production hall of Pact Packaging. This onsite role works closely with the site Quality Officer and operates across two possible shifts: morning (7:00‑15:00) or afternoon (15:00‑23:00), Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and coordinate tasks for the shift production team.
• Operate machinery efficiently to produce conforming products.
• Conduct product testing and make necessary process adjustments.
• Ensure all operations comply with WHS, Food Safety, and Quality Standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving root‑cause issues.

Required profile

• Experienced machine operator with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work weekends if required.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a current NSW forklift licence.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Machine operation (blow moulding experience preferred).
• Troubleshooting and minor machine adjustments using hand tools.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of HACCP and GMP requirements.
• Forklift operation.
