Application Support Engineer – Linux

About the role

Leidos Australia is looking for an Application Support Engineer to join a collaborative team that supports critical Linux‑based applications for the JP2096 ISR system. You will work across the full application lifecycle, providing Level 2/3 support and contributing to performance and reliability improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 application and systems support in a Linux/Unix environment, focusing on proactive monitoring and performance management.
• Own incidents end‑to‑end, from triage through resolution and post‑incident review.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes in partnership with developers and other ITSM service towers.
• Deploy software updates, patches, and fixes following change, release, and configuration management practices.
• Create and maintain clear operational and technical documentation to support ongoing operations and Level 1 Service Desk teams.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting and resolving application issues in a production environment.
• Solid understanding of networks, protocols, and diagnostic tools used in application support.
• Ability to use scripting or automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with technical and non‑technical teams.
