2D Animation Supervisor (Expression of Interest)

About the role

Flying Bark Productions is seeking a 2D Animation Supervisor for an upcoming cut‑out (rigged) 2D series that will also incorporate some traditional hand‑drawn animation. This is an Expression of Interest role; the position will open later this year or early 2027, and registering now ensures your portfolio and availability are on file.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of 2D animators across rigged and traditional pipelines, providing daily direction and feedback.
• Review shots and sequences to maintain consistent performance and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the rigging team to identify and resolve rig issues, requesting improvements as needed.
• Partner with the Director and Assistant Director on creative intent, tone, and character performance.
• Manage workload distribution, assign scenes, and coordinate with offshore partner studios.
• Liaise with Layout, Compositing, and Editorial to ensure timely delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a 2D Animation Supervisor or senior lead animator in a 2D production.
• Strong hands‑on experience with rigged or puppet‑based 2D animation, especially Toon Boom Harmony rigging.
• Deep understanding of rig mechanics such as pegs, deformers, and constraints.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.
• Sharp eye for timing, staging, weight, and character performance.
• Ability to work to broadcast schedules and adapt to changing priorities.
