Work Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

St Jude's Health Care Group, a provider of Aged Care, Allied Health and Disability Services, is seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety Advisor to support its organisation-wide safety framework. Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, the advisor gives specialist advice, coaching and support to leaders and employees, strengthens safety culture, manages workplace risks, supports incident investigations and helps prevent workplace injuries. The role works closely with operational leaders, the Injury Management & Claims Advisor and the Quality and Compliance Team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical WHS advice and support to managers and employees.
• Drive implementation and continuous improvement of the WHS Management System.
• Help leaders identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and put in place control measures.
• Monitor corrective actions from hazards, incidents and risks, and coordinate reporting of injuries, hazards and near misses.
• Support managers in investigating employee-related safety incidents and implementing corrective actions.
• Advise on notifiable incidents and legislative reporting requirements.
• Develop and review WHS policies, procedures, forms and guidance materials.
• Analyse injury, hazard and safety data to find trends and recurring risks.
• Coordinate WHS training and safety awareness activities, and coach staff on safe work practices.
• Prepare WHS reports and keep accurate safety records.

Required profile

• Cert IV in Work Health & Safety with commercial experience.
• Experience in Aged Care, Disability or Human Services (desirable).
• National Police Clearance and full working rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Exposure to a WHS management reporting platform.
• Strong pragmatic problem-solving, communication and time management skills.
