Undergraduate Engineer – Urban Infrastructure

About the role

SMEC, a member of the SJ Group, is seeking undergraduate civil engineering students to join its Urban Infrastructure team in Melbourne. This graduate‑level programme offers exposure to complex infrastructure projects across Australia and the chance to develop a professional engineering career.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of major industry projects and local community initiatives.
• Assist in preparing proposals, reports and other project documentation.
• Collaborate with supportive colleagues through a buddy‑system mentorship.
• Participate in industry events, networking sessions and graduate development workshops.

Required profile

• Third or penultimate year of study in a relevant engineering degree.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to manage time and workload.
• Developed knowledge of analytical methods, tools and engineering principles.
