Software Engineer

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking experienced Software Engineers to join its HF Exports team in either Edinburgh Parks, South Australia or Melbourne, Victoria. The role involves developing specialised software systems for international defence and technology customers, with flexible hybrid working options.

Key responsibilities

• Perform software development and project delivery activities under the direction of the Software Team Lead.
• Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve sprint objectives, taking ownership of tasks and ensuring high‑quality delivery.
• Engage in integration, testing and deployment activities for advanced defence solutions.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
• Strong practical experience developing C/C++ software in Linux‑based environments.
• Proven experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and familiarity with configuration and change‑management tools like Git.
