Software Engineer – Defence Technology

About the role

Cleared Recruitment is partnering with a privately owned Australian defence technology company to hire Software Engineers at various seniority levels. You will work on meaningful defence projects, developing sophisticated software for modelling, simulation and mission‑critical systems that support Australia’s future defence needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and document clean, maintainable code for Windows and Linux environments.
• Contribute to the delivery of advanced software capabilities across weapons, electronic warfare, command and control, flight and simulation systems.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering experience with a proven ability to work across the full software development lifecycle.
• Eligibility or willingness to obtain TSPV security clearance.

Required skills

• C++, C#, Java, Python
• Windows and Linux development
• Microservices, virtualization and containerisation technologies
• Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Experience with distributed/networked software and software integration
• Familiarity with AI, large language models and intelligent systems (optional but desirable)
