Senior Network Security Engineer

About the role

Join a leading Enterprise Services technology team in Sydney, delivering secure and resilient network infrastructure for mission‑critical environments. As a Senior Network Security Engineer you will design, implement and support advanced network security solutions that enable business value across multiple portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, engineering and deployment of network security solutions aligned with business and cyber‑security standards.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risks in network security designs and proposals.
• Provide technical consultation to projects, ensuring alignment with architecture and operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed security design documentation, including firewall configurations and policy deployments.
• Manage complex technical escalations from suppliers, operations teams and application stakeholders.
• Author implementation plans and perform configuration changes on network devices, including after‑hours support.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise team capability across multiple technologies.
• Engage with business units, service managers, architects and third‑party vendors to meet security objectives.

Required profile

• Significant experience in IT networking roles within large organisations.
• Proven background in network design or architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Technology or related field (preferred).
• Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCSP; CCIE, CISSP, ITIL or cloud certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Cisco Nexus, IOS switches, routers and firewalls.
• Core networking technologies: VXLAN, VPN, BGP, OSPF.
• Network scripting and automation: Ansible, Python, NSO, YANG, Terraform, JSON.
• F5 GTM/LTM, DNS, VMware NSX, cloud network security policies.
