Senior Lecturer / Lecturer – Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics & Robotics)

About the role

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a dynamic academic to join as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on mechatronics and robotics. You will deliver high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, develop innovative curricula, and contribute to the Faculty’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures, labs and tutorials in mechanical, mechatronic and robotics engineering.
• Design and implement curriculum resources that incorporate emerging technologies.
• Supervise honours and HDR students and support their research projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams, industry partners and professional networks to enhance student outcomes.
• Lead or contribute to program coordination, course accreditation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., Mechatronics, Robotics).
• Proven record of tertiary‑level teaching in mechanical, mechatronic or robotics engineering.
• Evidence of research output, grant success and supervision of honours/HDR students.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
• Knowledge of professional accreditation processes (e.g., Engineers Australia) and commitment to equity, cultural diversity and WHS principles.
