Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Literacy

About the role

Charles Sturt University seeks a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Literacy to lead high‑impact teaching and research across on‑campus and online programmes. You will shape future teachers and contribute to the university’s regional mission.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate literacy courses in both face‑to‑face and virtual settings.
• Develop and innovate curriculum aligned with current literacy research.
• Supervise higher‑degree research students and mentor early‑career academics.
• Engage with professional, community and government stakeholders to enhance the School’s impact.
• At Associate Professor level, provide strategic academic leadership and drive national/international research visibility.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification in literacy, education or a closely related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated record of high‑quality, student‑centred teaching.
• Established or emerging research portfolio in literacy, curriculum or pedagogy.
• Ability to build productive partnerships and contribute to academic leadership.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of literacy education theory and practice.
• Experience with online teaching platforms and blended learning design.
• Research methodology expertise relevant to education.
