Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

CoMade is a project-delivery partner specialising in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation solutions for the infrastructure, energy, resources and mining industries, covering pre-commissioning to operations. As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead end-to-end electrical design packages, from concept through to delivery, in a hands-on technical leadership role that includes mentoring engineers and managing client relationships. The work covers operational sites, brownfield upgrades and essential infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical drawings, calculations, reports, specifications and schedules.
• Design LV power distribution, main switchboards, distribution boards, lighting, emergency lighting, communications, security, fire detection, cable containment, earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Undertake or support medium voltage design for 11kV, 22kV and 33kV systems, including reticulation, switchgear, transformers, earthing and protection interfaces; candidates not confident in MV design will be trained and upskilled.
• Manage and mentor an overseas design team, ensuring effective communication across time zones.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, and coordinate with project managers so design deliverables match project schedules and budgets.
• Take part in client meetings and design reviews, presenting technical information clearly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in LV design.
• Experience leading and managing a design team, preferably with international team management experience.
• Full working rights in Australia.

• Strong understanding of relevant standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
