Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join a globally distributed engineering team building advanced digital finance and blockchain‑powered services. The role is remote‑first and focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining high‑performance backend systems that power financial platforms used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting financial platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical architectures.
• Improve existing Node.js services for reliability, performance and scalability.
• Build new integrations and micro‑service solutions using RPC calls and distributed system patterns.
• Write and optimise complex queries for relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Drive platform scalability initiatives to ensure real‑time responsiveness under growing demand.
• Apply security best practices to protect infrastructure, transactions and user data.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Support the evolution of messaging systems, caching layers and job‑queue architectures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing backend solutions with JavaScript and Node.js.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design.
• Proven experience building and maintaining large‑scale, high‑availability platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies, frameworks and engineering practices.
• Deep knowledge of backend security concepts and secure API development.
• Experience with scalability optimisation and real‑time system requirements.
