Resident Medical Officer – 2027 Tasmania Statewide Recruitment

About the role

The Tasmanian State Service is recruiting Resident Medical Officers for a 12‑month appointment starting 11 January 2027. Positions are based across Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional and Mersey Community Hospital, and Royal Hobart Hospital, offering exposure to both urban and regional health settings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day care of private and public in‑patients and out‑patients within the assigned hospital or rural facility.
• Provide after‑hours emergency cover as required by the work unit.
• Participate in scheduled rotations to rural practice sites across Tasmania.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient care.

Required profile

• Medical Practitioner Level 2‑4 (Resident) under the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025.
• Willingness to work 76 hours per fortnight on a full‑time or part‑time basis.
• Availability to commence on 11 January 2027, with potential extension to a 24‑month appointment.
